lyrics

Walkin' Across the Bay

I walk the end of State Street
I jump down from the dock
There's a dozen of ice fishermen
With multi-layered socks
They drill the bay with holes
Bright colors against the snow
Fishermen patiently waiting
Under sky so gray and cold

I'm walkin' across the bay
And I feel like Jesus Christ
They tell me don't you know
He didn't need any ice

I walk across the bay
To reach the other side
And if I fall to the bottom
I'll be washed in by the spring tide
The fishermen do not follow me
They do not lay down their nets
Even though they make big catches
They'll still be underfed.

I'm walkin' across the bay
And I feel like Jesus Christ
They tell me don't you know?
He didn't need any ice
